For many years I’ve been using the tag line, ‘Train with your brain’ as a reminder for people to be smart about their workouts, goals, and recovery.

Recently, a subscriber sent me a link to this article which gives a new double-meaning to my little tag line.

The article discusses research suggesting a link between heavy, weight-bearing exercise – particularly heavy leg training – and improved brain health.

It looks like lifting heavy weights literally improves your brain!

You know, the more we learn, the more it looks like weightlifting is virtual Fountain of Youth with proven, verifiable benefits that any nutritional supplement or even drug wishes it could legitimately offer a small fraction of!

Namely;

  • Improved cognitive function
  • Reduced brain plaques
  • Reduced dementia
  • Normalized insulin levels
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Reduced blood pressure
  • Reduced bodyfat
  • Increased muscle mass
  • Increased natural HGH
  • Increased testosterone
  • Increased libido
  • Increased HDL
  • Increased bone density
  • Stronger tendons
  • Stronger ligaments
  • Stronger joints
  • Increased energy
  • Improved appearance
  • Increased sense of well-being

All of THAT – in a single barbell!

So train with you brain – and your brain will thank you in ways that really matter.

Pete
